As a result, many men follow an improper regimen and wind up frustrated.
While certain guidelines for fitness are set for women, they vary slightly for men.
Here are a few:
- Many resources state you can go as low as 1,200 calories to lose weight without entering starvation but men should have 1,500 because of greater muscle mass and a different metabolic rate;
- To burn calories without sacrificing muscle men should engage in 20 to 40 minutes of high intensity cardiovascular exercise at least 3 times weekly; and
- Because fat is stored in the upper body in most men, they lose weight more quickly and must continue exercising to avoid loss of muscle mass or flabbiness.
