Quick Fitness Facts for Men

Though a plethora of information exists for women who want to lose weight, there are less resources for men seeking to shed a few pounds without becoming a bodybuilder or fitness guru.

As a result, many men follow an improper regimen and wind up frustrated.

While certain guidelines for fitness are set for women, they vary slightly for men.

Here are a few:
  • Many resources state you can go as low as 1,200 calories to lose weight without entering starvation but men should have 1,500 because of greater muscle mass and a different metabolic rate;
  • To burn calories without sacrificing muscle men should engage in 20 to 40 minutes of high intensity cardiovascular exercise at least 3 times weekly; and
  • Because fat is stored in the upper body in most men, they lose weight more quickly and must continue exercising to avoid loss of muscle mass or flabbiness.
Additionally, protein is often pumped up when it comes to weight loss and fitness for men. While protein is essential to help rebuild and repair muscles after you exercise, 15 to 35 percent of your total calories from protein is enough to satisfy this need.

When men have all the facts about fitness, it makes it easier to lose weight and look great.
